About event:

On Wednesday, August 28, our volunteer Nina Bumann gave a presentation about her home country Switzerland. She presented interesting facts about this small multicultural country in the heart of Europe: The Swiss Confederation was founded in 1848 has four official languages (German, French, Italian and Rumantsch). In order to integrate all cultural and lingual groups, Switzerland has a specific political system: One of the most important principles is federalism, why the laws in Switzerland can differ from canton to canton. Moreover, the head of the state is represented by the Federal Council, which consists of 7 members.
Nina also spoke about Swiss traditions and played a Yodelling song, which is sung in a specific technique. She also presented interesting facts about Swiss lifestyle. Currently, 22% of the population of Switzerland is foreign, which shows that this country is very multicultural and foreign. Nina discussed Gender Equality as well and explained that women in Switzerland have the same social position as a men.
Nina finished her presentation by cooking a delicious Fondue. Fondue is a national Swiss dish, which consists of cheese and white wine and is eaten with bread.
